It is my privilege to introduce Blake Marzloff as the new Director of the Pierce County Asset Building Coalition. Blake not only comes to Associated Ministries with an impressive skill set, experience, educational background and recognized leadership, but he comes to our agency with an enthusiasm and genuine personal commitment to social justice that is reflected in his work on behalf of low-wage individuals and families.
Blake’s community development and asset building projects range from developing the infrastructure for VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) campaigns for Thurston County to creating a SHIBA (Statewide Healthy Insurance Benefits Advisers) Volunteer program for Mason and Thurston Counties. He recruited over 80 volunteer tax preparers to provide over 1,800 hours of service. He has developed training curriculum for the VITA sites and trained over 150 volunteers on tax law. He oversaw two statewide AmeriCorps teams consisting of 30 members.
Along with an inspiring work history, Blake earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Alabama School of Law. He holds a Bachelor of Sciences Degree from Vanderbilt University. He also attended Leeds University in Leeds, England where he earned a degree in an Intensive study program in international economics and politics. He was recognized by the United Way of Thurston County Community Impact Volunteer of the Year in 2010. He received the certificates of Appreciation from the IRS, along with the SPEC Award in 2010. A few of Blake’s community leadership commitments include: Thurston County Asset Building Coalition, Steering Committee; Bread and Roses, Treasurer; Pierce County Asset Building Coalition, Committee Member.
This transition for the Pierce County Asset Building Coalition marks a time of collaboration and a time to strengthen and renew our partnerships. We will continue to work diligently to build a strong alliance within our community through committed and faithful partners. Blake will provide the solid leadership needed to keep us on course as we work together to engage all of Pierce County residents in building prosperity.
Please join me in welcoming Blake Marzloff, as the new Director of the Pierce County Asset Building Coalition.
